    Welcome

    2 Day event - 18th and 19th April, 2015

    The TNZOpen 2015 will be held at the North Shore Events Centre, and will be a TWO DAY event- starting on the 18th of April and finishing on Sunday the 19th of April. Saturday, 18th April, 2015 will consist of Black Belt and Grade 1-2 sparring, Black Belt & Coloured Belt Poomsae, while Sunday 19th April, 2015 will cover Coloured Belt Grade 3-5 and 6-8 sparring.

    Changes for this year's event:

    • Entry fees for spectators: Adults - $10, Children (under 14 years) $2
    • Spectator entry begins at 830am each day
    • WTF updated rules - Jan 1st 2015.
    • International entrants must be an official member of a WTF recognised member national association. Taekwondo New Zealand reserves the right to validate all entrants before accepting.

  • International Visitors

    By New Zealand Law, Taekwondo New Zealand can not, and will not, become involved in an athlete's, or team's VISA applications.

    Taekwondo New Zealand welcomes interest from athletes, coaches and instructors from outside New Zealand. Taekwondo New Zealand extends an invitation to all to come and compete at the  TNZ Open 2015.

    • Taekwondo New Zealand recommends that you contact a New Zealand Embassy early in 2015 BEFORE committing to paying for travel to New Zealand.
    • Please visit the New Zealand Government's Immigration website for further details.
    • International entrants must be an official member of a WTF recognised member national association. Taekwondo New Zealand reserves the right to validate all entrants before accepting.

      Poomsae for Black Belts

      • This is to be held on the Saturday morning- 18th April. The start time is 900am.

      Poomsae Patterns - Black Belts

      Two divisions of competition will be run - coaches will be asked to declare for their players prior to April 16th. 

      Division One Poomsae:

      Individuals

      • Male minor 11years and under - 7, koryo 
      • Female minor 11years and under - 7, koryo 
      • Male cadet 12-14years - koryo, keumgang 
      • Female cadet 12-14years - 5, keumgang 
      • Male junior 15-17years - koryo, 6 
      • Female junior 15-17years - 5, keumgang 
      • Male under 30, 18-30 -koryo, 8 
      • Female under 30, 18-30 - taeback, pyongwon 
      • Male under 40 - koryo, sipjin 
      • Female under 40 - 8, sipjin 
      • Male under 50 - cheonkwon, jitae 
      • Female under 50 - koryo, sipjin 

      Pairs and Teams

      • Mixed pair junior - taeback, 7 
      • Mixed pair over 30 - pyongwon, koryo 
      • Female team junior - 7, keumgang 
      • Female team under 30 - 6, taeback 
      • Female team over 30 - koryo, jitae

      Division Two

      All competitors, including pairs and Teams: - Koryo and Taegeuk 8 are compulsory.

      Poomsae Patterns - Coloured Belts

      • The start time is at the completion of the Black Belts on Saturday morning.

      The patterns required for Coloured Belt participants will be from: 

      • • Grade 8 to 6, Taegeuk 1 and 2 are compulsory.
      • • Grade 5 to 3, Taegeuk  4 and 3 are compulsory.
      • • Grade 2 to 1, Taegeuk  7 and 6 are compulsory.

    • Kyorugi News

      Kyorugi - Venue for weigh-in

      • Weigh in will be held at the North Shore Events Centre.
      • Trial scales will be available from 6pm Friday night - at the venue. These will be available for competitors until the close of the 4th weigh-in session on Sunday at 9am (19th April).
      • Competitors are to weigh in during an official weigh-in sessions. 

      Four weigh-in sessions will be held.

      • 1st Session - Starting at 6pm Friday the 17th of April. Finishing at 800pm.
      • 2nd Session - Starting at 7am Saturday the 18th of April. Finishing at 9am. ALL Kyorugi athletes competing on Day Two (Saturday the 18th of April) must be weighed in by this time or are disqualified.
      • 3rd Session - Starting at 2pm Saturday the 18th of April. Finishing at 4pm.
      • 4th Session - Starting at 8am Sunday the 19th of April. Finishing at 10am. ALL Kyorugi athletes competing on Day Three (Sunday the 19th of April) must be weighed in by this time or are disqualified.

      Kyorugi - Electronic Body Pads

      Please note:

      • All competitors (grades 8 to Black Belt) born 2004 to 2010 - will be required to bring chest protectors as they will NOT be using electronic body pads.
      • Grades 6-8 (ALL ages) will be required to bring chest protectors as they will NOT be using electronic body pads
      • Grades 1-5 (ages from Cadets upwards (Cadets, Juniors, Open and Veterans) will use Daedo Electronic pads and so will require Daedo Electronic Socks.
      • Black Belt (ages from Cadets upwards (Cadets, Juniors, Open and Veterans) - will use Daedo Electronic pads and so will require Daedo Electronic Socks.
