TNZ Secretary General visits Kukkiwon

2 Jan. 2012 Posted by Garry Carpenter

On his trip to Korea during October, TNZ Secretary General Master Matt Ransom also visited the Kukkiwon. The purpose of the visit was to discuss development opportunities for New Zealand that are on offer and to look at the processes and administration behind the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters.
Master Ransom first held meetings with Mr Kwang Mu Ko who is the Section Chief of the Overseas Strategy Team and Mr Seong Hoon Oh, General Director of the Kukkiwon Strategy Planning Bureau. Master Ransom took the opportunity to give a detailed outline on the history of New Zealand Taekwondo and TNZ’s future plans. This helped the Kukkiwon gain a better insight towards the developmental requirements of Taekwondo in New Zealand so that both parties can work more closely together in achieving this.
This was followed by a lengthy meeting with the Kukkiwon President, Grandmaster Won Sik Kang. President Kang was very interested in New Zealand Taekwondo and how it has progressed over recent years under the leadership of TNZ. He encouraged TNZ to fully utilise the Kukkiwon education programs and hopes to see a closer relationship develop between the Korean and Kiwi members for the betterment of the future of Taekwondo in New Zealand.
