WTF International Poomsae Judge Certification Course

Last year, Taekwondo New Zealand applied to host the 15th WTF International Poomsae Judge Certification Course. In late January of this year, the WTF announced that TNZ had been successful with it's application to host this course from the 12th of March to the 16th of March 2012. It is expected that countries from around the Oceania, Asia and the Pan-American regions will also take the opportunity to attend the course.

The popularity of Poomsae competition has grown rapidly over the last 5 years in New Zealand. The most significant 'growth spurt' was highlighted at last October's New Zealand Black Belt Championships where more Poomsae divisions were contested than sparring (Kyorugi) divisions.

For TNZ Poomsae athletes to be more competitive in international events New Zealand needs to have it's own WTF International Poomsae Judges. Having these judges officiating at local New Zealand events will be a major step forward and will also help raise standards. The TNZ Open Poomsae competitors taking part in the Black Belt Poomsae competition will also have the added advantage of having the newly graduated judges officiating their Poomsae under the watchful eye of the WTF International Poomsae Judge Tutors. The TNZ Open Black Belt Poomsae competition will be conducted under official WTF Poomsae competition rules and conditions.

Following on from the WTF International Poomsae Judge Certification Course in March, TNZ will be holding it's own TNZ Poomsae Judge Certification courses during 2012. This will also include Poomsae competition seminars. Announcements on dates and locations will be advised in due course on our website.
